Software for remote computers in public use. Provides simple one button intuitive usage. Computer can be setup anywhere. No network connection required. Search results are obtained by entering words in the text box at the top of the screen and clicking a button. Familiar to everyone. Setup requires no special computer training. OPTIONAL: StorXit can be set to operate on ordinary computers for quick search of a particular data set. Ideal for "in a hurry" data retrieval such as advising customers at retail store front counters. SETUP: The data searched can be from any spreadsheet, database or IndexXit file. The public computer can be running Windows 95, 98, NT4, ME, 2000 or XP. All displayed text on the public computer is created in the provided setup dialog. The public sees only the search screen. Phrases can be changed for specials and other customer information. Text can be in any single byte language. HOLDS MULTIPLE DATA FILES: The setup dialog file list allows a selection of data files by the administrator. Updated files are added and the public display changed in a matter of minutes. The data font and font size displayed is adjustable. A timer automatically clears the display. PICTURES: Data presented to the user can include pictures. The user clicks on the small in-cell button. The picture is shown immediately and in the same cell. The up/Down keyboard keys advance to the next picture. DATA FILES ARE TEXT: Requires data in comma delimited text files, the most common means of storing data. In Microsoft Excel such files are called CSV (comma separated values). Not required, but the Searchable Data Lists - IndexXit program is useful to edit the data, add pictures, move columns, etc. |
